The Association of Performing Arts (RCAPA) is going to hold the Music and Drama Week 2009 from 12th to 16th January. Major events of the week include the Singing Contest and the Rocky Serenade.

The RCAPA started holding the performing-arts competition “Talent Quest” in the early 80s which graduates evolved into the “Singing Contest” and the “Rocky Serenade” in the late 80s. The Raimondi College Singing Contest, with a history of almost 30 years, has been one of the most popular extra-curricular activities during the school year.

The Singing Contest includes solo, group, and class competitions. We welcome all students’ participation in the competitions. The Singing Contest provides an opportunity for students with talent to perform on stage. Class competitions, especially popular among S.5 and S.7 classes, can enhance unity, perseverance and love of all the graduates-to-be.

The Rocky Serenade is an annual show marking the end of the Music and Drama Week. The Singing Contest Final, a band show, a dance show, and some guest performances will be incorporated into the show. This is a time for students to relax in their busy school-life.

The Opening Ceremony of the Music and Drama Week 2009 will be held at 1:05pm on 16th January in the Father J. Carra Memorial Hall. We are honoured to invite our Principal, Mr. G.W. Au, ECA Master, Mr. L. Yeung, advisors of the RCAPA, Ms C. Chan and Ms. M. Wong to attend our opening ceremony.

This year, we have invited Mr. Edmond Tsang, an alumnus of the Raimondi College as well as a famous composer of pop songs, to be the guest of the Rocky Serenade. He is an expert in both classical and contemporary music, and has composed a wide variety of pop songs, e.g. 送我一個家(泳兒)、我不會唱歌、天水圍城(李克勤)、韻律泳(何韻詩). He will serve as the guest judge and guest performer of the Rocky Serenade 2008, and here we would like to give special thanks to Mr. Edmond Tsang. (Ref: www.edmondtsang.com)
