Exploring the Bowen Road Slope Study Trai

Date: 14/04/2026

Our S4 Geography and Physics students recently participated in a cross-subject field trip to the Bowen Road Slope Study Trail. Guided by the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO), the visit provided a practical look at how the theoretical concepts of geography, mathematics and physics are applied to manage Hong Kong’s unique landscape.

The tour focused on the essential landslip prevention and mitigation measures that ensure slope stability across the city. Students examined technical installations such as soil nails and check dams, gaining insight into the slope engineering measures. The visit also highlighted the importance of slope landscaping, demonstrating how man-made structures were modified to blend into the natural environment. By observing these works firsthand, students were able to relate classroom lessons to real-world geotechnical solutions.
